When did you start playing?
Hm, I picked up my Dad's acoustic in August of 2001, but I seriously started practicing a few months later.
-
What are your favorite bands/influences?
Most of my development while playing guitar happened while Opeth and In Flames were my favorite bands, so a lot of my foundation rests on those bands. Nowadays I'm more influenced by technical death metal bands like Necrophagist, Between the Buried and Me, Arsis, Spawn of Possession, Glass Casket. I also love power metal, really epic stuff like Dragonforce, Equilibrium, Sonata Arctica, Symphony X, Children of Bodom, and even Finntroll. I guess those bands influence me too, even though Inquest doesn't have much upbeat stuff. I also love the really heavy brutal bands like Suffocation, Bloodbath, Vital Remains, and Carcass. It's really hard to peg favorite bands, so there's quite a bit that I'm missing on this list.

What's your favorite musical experience?
This would have to be seeing Opeth at the Fillmore in San Francisco during their "Damnation" tour. They played the entire album along with some very special tracks from their older catalog. It was an amazing concert. That and maybe playing live with Inquest for the first time. :)
-
What's your least favorite musical experience?
Playing the show on November 3rd, 2005, at my house. This show was put on with zero planning and promotion, we just decided to play the day before. We had somewhere around 15 people watching us, and we all screwed up sooo much. We could barely get through songs without breaking down. Bad experience.
-
What's your favorite Inquest song?
Right now it's our new untitled one currently called "Obliteration". Next on the list is Destiny In Flesh. Man that song just keeps changing and it's always fun to play.
-
What do you do when you're not playing music?
I'm either going to school or back home in the Bay Area working. I get paid for being a code monkey at ThinkingVOICE Networks. So either those things, or I'm chasing after girls. An occasional drink isn't out of the question either. :)
-
What's your worst habit?
Don't really have one. Breaking hearts I suppose. :-p
-
What equipment do you use?
My main guitar is a BC Rich Platinum Series Warlock 7-string. It has an EMG-707 pickup installed in the bridge position. I love this guitar to death. I also own an ESP Eclipse EC-300. I put a set of high-gauge strings on it and tuned it to B so Chris can use it for practices and as a second guitar live. I use .011-.049 strings for the top six, and a .059 for the 7th string, and a set of .014-.059 on the ESP. For picks, I only use the tiny sharp Dunlop Tortex 1mm ones. They're purple and they play like a dream.
My rack has a Furman PL-PLUS Series II power conditioner providing power to a Line 6 POD Xt Pro and a Mesa Stereo Simul-Class 2:90 power amplifier. It's a very simple setup, really. The POD provides tone and the Mesa warms it up and sends it to a cab. Can't get better than studio-perfect amp modelling into an all-tube power-amp. My cab right now is a ratty Mesa 2x12 with 90 watt speakers that are busted to shit.

Any quotes?
I like my friend Ashleigh's philosophy on life: "I enjoy it in theory, I pound it in practice."
